Before heading to the theatre, check its location if your school or organization is not providing transportation. Familiarize yourself with public transportation schedules, parking options, and any associated fees. Be sure to visit the theatre's website to review and follow any health and safety guidelines. It’s also a good idea to eat beforehand, as outside food and beverages are not permitted inside the theatre.

When attending a live performance, put your best foot forward! Wearing fresh clothes, keeping your hair groomed, and maintaining a clean appearance will help you feel confident and ready to enjoy the show.

Plan to arrive at least 30 minutes early to your scheduled performance; even earlier if you are picking up tickets from will call. This will allow you enough time to distribute the tickets, find your seats, and get settled before the performance begins. If you arrive late, sometimes you will be held in the lobby of the theatre until there is a break in the performance before you are allowed in to your seats.

A ringing phone can be incredibly distracting—not only to those around you but also to the performers on stage. Please ensure that all electronic devices are turned off or silenced before entering the theatre. Flash photography is also strictly prohibited, as it can be disruptive and dangerous for the performers.

As with cell phones going off, speaking during a performance is just as disruptive. Keep all comments until intermission or the end of the performance to allow everyone to enjoy the full show.

At the appropriate moments during the show, and especially at the end, show your appreciation by applauding the performers. If the performance was particularly outstanding, you might even want to stand and give them a standing ovation!
